Holiday Tackk.com Webpage - Widener Engineering Camp For Girls 2014

Today you will have some time to create a HOLIDAY TACKK Webpage!

Since this is not your first time creating a Tackk.com Webpage, I will keep it simple and too the point:

Your new page must be created using Tackk.com

Make sure you add the following items:

Heading must be "Crossroads@Meade Holiday Tackk"
You must include "by (Your First Initial and Last Name)"
You must include a list of the 10 things your most thankful for this time of year.
You must include a holiday video
You must include a BUTTON with a link to your favorite song online.
You must include a MAP to the block you are spending the holidays on. (Not the complete address, just the closest major intersection)
You must include a holiday message to everyone.
You must include the following KEYWORDS: #caatech and #xroadsholidaythanks2103
Please email me the link and share the link with your classmates!

HISTORICAL FIGURE FACEBOOK PROJECT - TACKK. COM WEBSITE PAGE

Today you will be required to create a new Tackk.com website page about your Historical Figure Facebook Project. You must EXPORT or SAVE your project as a set of Pictures (JPEG Files). I will show you in class today how to do that. Those pictures must be uploaded to Tackk.com on your webpage as a Photo Slide Show (Not Individually). Below are the step-by-step instructions on how to complete this assignment:

STEP 1: Open your project either as as Powerpoint Project or as the PDF that you emailed to me.

STEP 2: If you opened it as a PowerPoint project you need to go to the File heading and click Save As Pictures.

If you opened it as a PDF (Open it in Preview) you need to go to the File heading and click Export. Pick the Pictures Choice.

STEP 3: Either way, you must now save your work as Picture Files (JPEG) to the Desktop.

STEP 4: Open Tackk.com and Sign In.

STEP 5: CREATE a new Tackk Webpage and customize the color, text and other settings.

STEP 6: Design and Create your new Tackk Webpage with a Heading similar to the example posted here: COOKIE MONSTER TACKK PAGE (Click Title Link To View Example)

Your Tackk Webpage must include the following items for credit:

Title "Historical Figure Facebook Project"
Subtitle I: "[Your Historical Figure's Name]"
Subtitle II: "by [Your Name]"
Subtitle III: "Computer Science Class"
Subtitle IV: "Crossroads@Meade (Philadelphia, PA)"
Picture Slide Show of your COMPLETE Facebook Project Pages (6)
Written Description of your Historical Figure: 2-3 Paragraphs in YOUR OWN WORDS!

Include Why You Chose your Historical Figure and what you learned.

Embed a VIDEO about your Historical Figure's Life or the Time they lived in.
Add your SOURCES as working links to the websites you used for research.
Add a Map of the Area of the World your Historical Figure lived in.
Add the following KEYWORDS so your Tackk Webpage can be found easily:

#HFFacebook2013

STEP 7: Find the Button in your TOOLBAR on Tackk.Com that allows you to FINISH your Project. Once you depress that button, your page will go LIVE and a link will show in the Bottom Right-Hand Corner of your Window. Copy that link and email it to me for credit!

MAKE SURE THAT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS PROJECT YOU FOLLOW THE CLASS RULE OF "ASK THREE BEFORE ME!" PEER MENTORING AND EXPLORING HOW TO COMPLETE THESE PROJECTS INDEPENDENTLY IS THE BASIS OF THE WAY WE LEARN IN THIS CLASS. You will learn how to be Technologically Literate much faster if you are required to TEACH someone else how to do what you just learned in class.

HISTORICAL FIGURE FACEBOOK PROJECT - REBOOT DAY!

TODAY EVERYONE WILL CONTINUE THEIR WORK ON THE HISTORICAL FIGURE FACEBOOK PROJECT:

We will start with a brief Re-Introduction to the project and time for questions. Most of you are on the right track, and just need additional time to get the project finished. The projects are still technically considered late, but I want to make sure that everyone has a chance to present their best work. Thursday and Friday of this week we will be turning our final drafts of this project into a Tackk.com webpage about our Historical Figure. We will be working on this project for the next three days in class. I want everyone to have the best chance of creating an interesting and complete project. A WEEK OF CODE!

Today is a banner day in our class. We will be working through a WEEK OF CODE. As part of the Nation-Wide Computer Science Education Week, we will be working on the CODE.ORG Basic Tutorial.

We will all watch the Introduction Video in class, and you will have a chance to sign up for your account and begin programming afterwards. Please use your TWITTER ACCOUNT to sign up and TWEET your progress to everyone in class. Make sure that in your 140 character TWEET you use the HASHTAG #caatech so everyone can find your posts. I will be coming around during the class to make sure you are on track. You may use your EARBUDS in class to work at your own pace this week! Please do not use large, bulky headphones as they are against classroom rules. If you miss a day, you can start anytime this week.

Once you have watched the video, proceed to CODE.ORG and create an Account using your TWITTER Username. Use a password that you can easily remember. I cannot recover a lost password for you, and you will not get credit for this project if you cannot log in and show me your progress:

After you have completed each Level, LOG Into your Weebly.com Journal and write a few sentences to reflect on what you have learned. You can keep this reflection as one Post for the whole project, or do a series of Posts, it is up to you. There should be a few sentences about each level you complete. It is a good idea to start keeping journals whenever you work on longer projects. It will allow you to learn from mistakes and record ideas and interesting details that might be forgotten over time. It is a good way to incorporate parts of the Scientific Method into your work/school life as well.

Integrity (13 Characteristics)

13 Characteristics of People Who Have Integrity

1. They Value Other People's Time: They value their own time so they also value the time of other people. They know you have plenty of other places you need to be and won’t hold you up. If you spend time with them, it is likely they will thank you for that as well.

2. They Give Credit Where It Is Due: They do not take credit for things they did not do. They will always credit those who deserve it. If you help this person with a project he or she will likely mention your name so you can take credit for your work.

3. They Are Authentic: They are their truest forms. You won’t catch them in a lie or being fake.

4. They Are Always Honest: They are honest people that feel no need to lie as it is important for them to get to where they need to get in life honestly.

5. They Never Take Advantage Of Others: They are not the kind of people who will take advantage of someone else. They love to build people up and help them get where they need to be. Taking too much from someone else will never be an issue with someone who has a lot of integrity.

6. The Do Not Argue Over Disagreements: They will talk through things in a civil manner or not talk at all. You cannot and will not force this person into arguing over something completely ridiculous. I find this to be a very respectable trait.

7. They Give Most People The Benefit Of The Doubt: They try to see the good in everyone. I think this is because they feel like maybe there are more people in this world that also have integrity. That being said, if you take advantage of them too much they will get rid of you.

8. They Know When Something Is Bothering Someone: They have a great intuition that lets them know when something is going on. If someone is down in the dumps they will notice. Chances are they will actually do what they can to cheer you up.

9. They Believe In Others: They accept your word as truth until it is dis-proven. That being said, they do not take lying well. And once you lie to them, it is unlikely that they will ever take your word again.

10. They Apologize First: If they have done something wrong they will come to you and apologize. This is just how they are. They own up to their mistake and try to make things right.

11. They Are Humble: They do not quite know their own worth. While they are very important and do so much good they don’t quite see it. You should remind them of it.

12. They Do Good When They Can: They are always helping other people. They love to know that they have improved someone’s life. It gives their lives meaning.

13. They Are Always Kind To Those Who Need It: Giving kindness can go a long way. When someone looks like they need a little pick me up these people deliver. They can brighten up almost anyone’s day.

If you are someone who has true integrity, thank you for being who you are and thank you for all that you do. You really do actually make a difference in society, please keep up the good work. If you feel no one else is proud of you, know that I am.
