 Tackk.Com "Giving Thanks" Project
Check out TACKK.COM.  I found this in a magazine on the flight home from a weekend trip a couple years ago.  I thought this would be an interesting and fun way to post information (Like Final Projects) for school.  You can easily create single page websites for your work.  You could create a single TACKK without logging in, or create a series of TACKK's.  Please go to the website TACKK.COM to get started.  Make sure you add the TAG (#rk8tech) to all of your sites so we can see them.

Here is the link for my GIVING THANKS Tackk.com Webpage:

PA 3.7.7 & 11 Section C / ISTE 2011 / CSTA Tied With Common Core ELA/Math rev. 2014

Everyone:

In preparation for a day off on Wednesday, please view the following video in class:

GOOGLE DRIVE (DOCUMENT) JOURNAL ENTRY
Today you will use complete a Google Classroom Assignment and write 2-3 sentences about how you might be able to serve your community or country someday.  This service does not have to be in the armed forces.  I want you to really think about how you can repay the gifts of liberty and freedom that you have because you live in the United States.  Consider the sacrifice of others, both in uniform and out, while this country grew and up to the modern era.

HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT FOR VETERANS DAY 2015

3rd Herd - Prior to Deployment (Fall 2007)
Please talk to a veteran that you know.  This assignment is due prior to the end of Marking Period 1.  You must find a relative or friend that has served our country in the armed forces and interview them.  Find out when and where they served.  Write a one-page summary of the interview.  See the worksheet in your Google Classroom page.  Make sure to include how long they served, why they joined, what was the hardest and easiest part of their service, and what they feel about others serving.    Try to include a picture of the person in uniform if possible.  Please email this interview to me so I can print them and post them.  End your summary with how you feel about service in the armed forces and why it is important to serve your country in any capacity.

Thanks for your input on this project.

12 x 12 x 12 Response / Web Scavenger Hunt

Hello All:

Today you will be reading the following passage:

12 x 12 x 12 IMPRESSIONS
12 by 12 by 12 is the distance you are being judged by the people you meet every day of every week of every year of your life.
Your first impression starts 12 feet away. This is the distance people see what you are wearing and how you are acting. This is the first chance you have to make sure that people see you in a positive, accepting light.
At 12 inches away you are now about to speak. People will notice the minute details of the way your face looks as you smile, frown, or grimace. People are judging your looks, your demeanor, and the way you carry yourself. The way you shake a hand, smell to others, and present yourself are now under the microscope and you should be aware that what you are about to say will forever place a note in people’s head about your level of maturity.
Finally, the first 12 words you speak are a reflection of your heritage, upbringing, and education level. Whether you like it or not, the person you are interacting with is taking a mental picture of you for future reference. What kind of picture have you given them? How can you make a difference in how you appear? The mark we leave on the world is a made up of the thousands of appearances in other people’s memories. How you are perceived by others is the only yardstick we are all measured equally by. Make your impression a positive lasting one with others, and you will make your world a better place live in.

Once you have read the passage above (12x12x12) please open your Google Classroom and complete the document that has been placed in the SHARED WITH ME Folder on your Google Drive.  Write, in your own words, how you will change the way you act because of what you read.  Please write 3-4 sentences about how this will impact you and the impression you leave with others.

Once you have completed your worksheet and submitted it, you will work quietly on the following lesson:

Integrity (13 Characteristics)

13 Characteristics of People Who Have Integrity

1. They Value Other People's Time: They value their own time so they also value the time of other people. They know you have plenty of other places you need to be and won’t hold you up. If you spend time with them, it is likely they will thank you for that as well.

2. They Give Credit Where It Is Due: They do not take credit for things they did not do. They will always credit those who deserve it. If you help this person with a project he or she will likely mention your name so you can take credit for your work.

3. They Are Authentic: They are their truest forms. You won’t catch them in a lie or being fake.

4. They Are Always Honest: They are honest people that feel no need to lie as it is important for them to get to where they need to get in life honestly.

5. They Never Take Advantage Of Others: They are not the kind of people who will take advantage of someone else. They love to build people up and help them get where they need to be. Taking too much from someone else will never be an issue with someone who has a lot of integrity.

6. The Do Not Argue Over Disagreements: They will talk through things in a civil manner or not talk at all. You cannot and will not force this person into arguing over something completely ridiculous. I find this to be a very respectable trait.

7. They Give Most People The Benefit Of The Doubt: They try to see the good in everyone. I think this is because they feel like maybe there are more people in this world that also have integrity. That being said, if you take advantage of them too much they will get rid of you.

8. They Know When Something Is Bothering Someone: They have a great intuition that lets them know when something is going on. If someone is down in the dumps they will notice. Chances are they will actually do what they can to cheer you up.

9. They Believe In Others: They accept your word as truth until it is dis-proven. That being said, they do not take lying well. And once you lie to them, it is unlikely that they will ever take your word again.

10. They Apologize First: If they have done something wrong they will come to you and apologize. This is just how they are. They own up to their mistake and try to make things right.

11. They Are Humble: They do not quite know their own worth. While they are very important and do so much good they don’t quite see it. You should remind them of it.

12. They Do Good When They Can: They are always helping other people. They love to know that they have improved someone’s life. It gives their lives meaning.

13. They Are Always Kind To Those Who Need It: Giving kindness can go a long way. When someone looks like they need a little pick me up these people deliver. They can brighten up almost anyone’s day.

If you are someone who has true integrity, thank you for being who you are and thank you for all that you do. You really do actually make a difference in society, please keep up the good work. If you feel no one else is proud of you, know that I am.
